During Ramadan, Muslims remember a story about a man named Muhammad. Muhammad lived long ago in the city of Mecca. He was a kind person who wanted everyone to be treated fairly. Sometimes, Muhammad went to a cave to pray. He thought about how people should behave.

Muslims believe that an angel visited Muhammad in the cave. The angel told Muhammad God's teachings. Muhammad shared the messages with other people. These teachings are the religion of Islam. Muslims read them in a special book called the Quran.
