Paul Revere was born long ago in Boston. While he was growing up, Paul learned how to make things out of silver. He was very good at making pretty things like teapots and spoons. He also liked to draw pictures.

At that time, Boston was part of the Thirteen Colonies. The Thirteen Colonies belonged to a country called Great Britain. Paul Revere and many other people did not like Great Britain being in charge.

Great Britain sent soldiers to Boston. These soldiers made people follow Great Britain's rules. Paul Revere and other people did not like having soldiers in their city.

Sometimes, the soldiers and people from Boston got into fights. This made Paul Revere angry. He wanted other people to know what the soldiers were doing. So he drew a picture. His picture showed the soldiers hurting people. Many people saw his picture. They got mad at Great Britain, too.
