This picture shows the Hindu god Krishna playing music for Radha.
Many people celebrate a holiday called Holi. It is a Hindu holiday. Holi happens every year at the end of winter. People are happy during Holi because spring is coming. Farmers can plant seeds to grow food for the coming year.
Many stories explain how Holi began. One story is about a young prince. He had a mean aunt named Holika. In the story, Holika tricked the prince and he stepped into a fire. The prince prayed to a Hindu god for help. The god saved the prince from the fire, and Holika was burned instead. Today, people burn fires during Holi to remember that the good prince won and the evil aunt lost.
Another Holi story is about the Hindu god Krishna. Krishna had blue skin. He loved a goddess named Radha and wanted her to have colorful skin too. He teased her by putting brightly colored paint on her face. Today, bright colors are still a part of Holi celebrations. Holi is sometimes called the festival of colors.
