There are many types of governments. Some governments are
authoritarian.
These governments are very strict. Their people do not have much individual freedom and have little say in political decisions.Read the descriptions of some types of authoritarian governments. Then answer the question below.
An absolute monarchy is ruled by a monarch, such as a king or queen, who has complete control over all aspects of the government. The monarch inherits power from a family member.
A dictatorship is ruled by a dictator, an individual who has absolute power. The dictator usually gains power by force and requires strict obedience.
An oligarchy is ruled by a small group of powerful people. Oligarchs often gain their power through their wealth or social position.
A theocracy is a government based on religious beliefs. Religious leaders play a significant role, either directly or indirectly, in running the government.
Imagine a country whose government is described below:
A country is ruled by a powerful committee, consisting of leaders of the largest companies in the country. This committee makes all decisions without input from the citizens.
