This passage describes endurance distance in cane toads.
a cane toad sitting in the mud
a cane toad
  • The cane toad is a poisonous toad species from Central and South America. Humans brought cane toads to other continents so that the toads would eat insect pests.
  • In a new environment, a cane toad may travel long distances to find food. Toads that can travel longer distances have greater endurance. Endurance can be measured as an endurance distance, or the total distance a toad travels before it is too tired to move anymore.
The table below describes a possible population of cane toads at the start of a period of time and at the end of that period. The table shows endurance distance measurements for a representative sample of the population at the start and for another representative sample at the end.
